Ionblox (previously known as Zenlabs) is leading the electric mobility revolution by delivering superior technology and enabling electric vehicle (EV) and electrical vertical take-off and landing vehicle (eVTOL) companies to achieve their goals. The company is developing low-cost and fast-charge silicon-based cells for EVs, as well as extreme fast-charging cell technology to enable eVTOLs to fly numerous times per day and spend more time in the skies. Ionblox has more than 40 issued patents, including for the pre-lithiation of all types of silicon-based anodes. It’s proprietary cell design enables multiple performance attributes including fast charging, high energy, high power, and long life at low cost to unlock the viability of widespread electric transportation.
Gelion has signed a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) with Ionblox, combining their technology expertise, patent portfolio protection and leading research and development facilities located in Australia and the US respectively to develop high-performance, next-generation lithium silicon sulfur (LiSiS) cells. Gelion will focus on the optimisation of the sulfur cathode incorporating its IP portfolio and expertise gained from the acquisition of OXLiD Ltd (a UK-based lithium-sulfur innovator). Ionblox will provide its best-in-class, proven high-energy density pre-lithiated Silicon Oxide anode, optimised for use with Gelion’s sulfur cathode. The organisations will jointly develop and optimise a proprietary electrolyte to enable the cycle life characteristics required for EV and e-aviation applications.
